The cottages and rooms at Ambalama Leisure Lounge offer a unique blend of traditional Sri Lankan craftsmanship and modern comfort. Each cottage, themed after local crafts like pottery, blacksmithing, and carpentry, reflects the rich heritage of the island. Guests can enjoy rustic yet elegant interiors with air-conditioning, private balconies, and serene views of the lush surroundings. Larger groups can opt for spacious accommodations like the Guru Gedara, while couples can choose cozy Dutch-style rooms, ensuring a perfect stay for all.

Kumbal Geya (Potter’s Cottage)

The Kumbal Geya cottage is designed to reflect the art and craft of traditional Sri Lankan potters. Built with clay elements, this cottage exudes a warm, earthy ambiance, making it feel grounded and naturally connected to the surrounding landscape. Inside, the rustic aesthetic is complemented by comfortable furnishings that ensure a cozy stay. 

The use of clay not only enhances the cultural significance but also promotes natural cooling, offering a refreshing atmosphere in Sri Lanka’s tropical climate. Guests can enjoy the simple yet unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern comfort while taking in serene views from their private balcony, surrounded by the tranquility of nature.

Kammala (Blacksmith’s Cottage)

Inspired by the ancient craft of blacksmithing, the Kammala Cottage incorporates ironwork elements in its design, symbolizing strength and resilience. The cottage’s decor reflects the blacksmith’s art, using metal accents in furniture and detailing to create a bold yet inviting atmosphere. This cottage is ideal for guests who appreciate industrial-inspired design balanced with comfort. 

While staying here, guests can enjoy modern amenities like air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and a private balcony, which offers a peaceful view of the lush greenery surrounding the hotel. The cottage is a perfect blend of rustic simplicity and modern functionality, making it a unique stay option.

Wadu Maduwa (Carpenter’s Cottage)

The Wadu Maduwa cottage pays tribute to the skillful work of Sri Lankan carpenters, with wooden architecture and detailing that evoke a warm, natural feeling. The cottage is constructed with locally sourced timber, emphasizing sustainability and a connection to nature. The interiors showcase fine wooden craftsmanship, from furniture to structural elements, offering a cozy, organic atmosphere. 

Guests can immerse themselves in the earthy tones and natural textures that make this space feel both luxurious and grounded. Like the other cottages, Wadu Maduwa also features modern conveniences such as air-conditioning, cable television, and a private balcony with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Guru Gedara (Teacher’s House)

The Guru Gedara is the largest accommodation at Ambalama, ideal for families or groups seeking a spacious and comfortable stay. This cottage, which can host up to ten guests, is designed to provide communal living with private touches. It includes multiple rooms and shared living spaces, creating a homely, inviting environment perfect for larger gatherings. 

The decor reflects the dignity and tradition of Sri Lankan teaching, with simple yet elegant furnishings. Families can enjoy modern amenities, including a private bathroom, air-conditioning, and serene outdoor spaces that offer plenty of room for relaxation or group activities.
